ABCD has been one of several program operators for the city of Bridgeport’s Lighthouse program, since 1993. The Lighthouse Program brings schools, communities and the municipality together to provide students with safe, nurturing and supportive environments after school and during the summer. The program provides educational, cultural, and recreational opportunities to Bridgeport’s students, in grades K – 12, through a diversified approach to programming. During the summer, the program operates for five weeks beginning the first week in July, from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. A free breakfast and lunch are served. The after-school program operates from September through May, between the hours of 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm (critical hours of crime for school age children); a free snack is provided. There is a sliding fee attached to the program. In addition, working parents are offered an extra hour of service during the summer and a half-hour during the school year for an additional charge.
